Do you want to be the cherry on top?

Vanilla sundae with chocolate and cherry on top

A healthy relationship is like the cherry on top of a sundae. It's not a necessity, but it makes the sundae taste much better.

The ice cream on your sundae is you.

Without ice cream, a sundae wouldn't exist. It's the essential ingredient. Just as it's essential to take care of yourself, to love yourself, and not to forget yourself (or let yourself melt away) for the sake of others.

The syrup, the rainbow sparkles and any other toppings are your entourage.

Your friends, your children, your acquaintances and your colleagues. You may not always get to choose them, but you get to decide whether to keep them in your life or not. Sometimes, the chocolate syrup tastes delicious, but it can also be bitter at other times. Therefore, you may choose to put caramel on your sundae instead.

The cherry on top is your life partner.

Unlike other toppings, you choose to add one (or several if you're polyamorous) or none at all. The cherry isn't necessary to enjoy your sundae. The cherry adds something extra, a bonus to your sundae. Just like a healthy relationship should.

Being in a relationship should never be a necessity. It should be a plus, an added bonus in your life, like the cherry on top of your sundae!

Bon appetit!
